루돌프 솅커 Scorpions 3년 만에 신작 "Humanity - Hour I"으로
돌아오다.
에어로스미스(Aerosmith), 앨리스 쿠퍼(Alice Cooper),
키스(Kiss), 본 조비(Bon Jovi) 등 숱한 뮤지션들과 작업한
거물 작곡자이자 프로듀서인 데스몬드 차일드(Desmond Child)의
프로듀싱, 스매싱 펌킨스의 빌리 코건의 깜짝 피처링,
웅장한 오케스트레이션이 가미된 타이틀곡 [Humanity]를 포함,
총 12곡 수록되어 있다.
3년 만에 공개되는 스콜피온스의 새 앨범 "Humanity - Hour I"는
이들의 서정미와 강력한 사운드를 동시에 모두 접할 수 있다.
신작은 재앙이 가득한 세상을 믿음과 사랑으로 충만한 세상으로
만들고자 하는 밴드의 기원이 담긴 일종의 컨셉트 앨범이다.
앨범 타이틀의 'Hour I'은 천만년 시간의 단위로,그 시간동안
인류에 일어난 세상과 사랑, 전쟁, 인간성 등등 그 모든 것에
대한 것을 이야기 한 것으로 볼 수 있다.
데뷔 후 35년이 지났음에도 불구하고 예전보다 더욱 파워풀하고
헤비한 사운드로 무장한 곡들이 이들의 노련함과 더불어 특유의
서정적인 멜로디가 아주 아름답다.
스콜피온스 스타일의 곡들 'The Game Of Life',
'We Were Born To Fly', 'Love Will Keep Us Alive'
그리고 오케스트레이션에 의한 클래시컬한 사운드가 삽입된
이 앨범의 백미인 타이틀 곡'Humanity'까지 스콜피온스 만의
저력을 유감없이 발휘하였다.
